A little Little Richard goes a long way. Like in this case, to Tullahoma and back.
I still can't believe it. I was driving down Church Street in Murfreesboro. A black Cadillac Escalade was trying to pull out of Taco Bell.
Dang it if Little Richard wasn't behind the wheel. I couldn't believe my eyes. I tried to get another look, though the first look had been plenty to know it was him. His hair was in perfect rolls. His mustache was perfectly thin.
I pulled off at Indian Hills, deciding not to go on home but to bust a U-turn and try to follow him. When he got near, I got another good look. And another. And another. I followed/stalked him all the way to Shelbyville. I got several opportunities to take a picture but each time my heart started pounding and I felt like a total moron actually taking it. I just knew that no one would ever believe me.
It was confirmed again that it as in fact him when I saw him eating his Taco Bell food. He had rings on his hand and a fabulous glitzy watch on. He also had on metallic gold, over sized sunglasses.
Once we got to Shelbyville, I saw a man on a bike holler, "Hey! Little Richard!!" He threw his hand out the window and gave a less-than-manly yet enthusiastic wave of of four fingers, holding his thumb still.
I decided that it might not be the best idea to follow him on towards Tullahoma. You think?
I busted another U, this time rolling down my window and asking the man on the bike if it was really him. He said, "Yeah, man! That was Little Richard!!!!!!!!"
I came home totally knowing that people would never believe me. I was in awe.
I got online, and found out pretty quickly that Little Richard moved to Tennessee in January. Hmmmm. Then guess what else? Being the sleuth that I am, I looked up the Moore County property data, since the tags on the Escalade had been from Moore County. Just FYI, Little Richard lives in Lynchburg in a house bought under his real name.
I stalked Little Richard today!!!

I love this story & enjoyed listening to it unfold...
I can verify the accuracy since I was on the phone with Dust and heard the man on the bike she referenced.
I want to see Little Richard too!!!
Thanks for the backup!!! PS I have his address.
girl you are too funny
I can attest to the, um... involuntary zombie-like stalker state an unexpected encounter with Little Richard can put you in. For I, was abducted too! Sort of. I mean, It's kinda like being abducted right?
Here's how I remember it....
Walking out of the Nashville Hilton on saturday morning. A little hazy from the honky-tonking the night before.
And out of the corner of my eye, I see this shimmering gold object, bright as the sun! Instantly, my body moves towards this object. (why?) I am alert now....adrenaline pump-ING!
(what is happening???)
Before I know it I am 15 feet in front of "thee" Little Richard. And he is amazing. So much information to take in, green gem stone shoes, perfect hair, the smell of hairspray, that little moustache, all wrapped in this shiny gold suit ...he looks good, but is on crutches.....and would you know? Not that little in person, sort of average-sized.
Anyways, My hand is outstretched with an object pointed in his direction. It's my camera!
(where did that come from?)
I am startled by his velvety Little Richard voice as he say's, "no don't, I don't want people to see me this way."
I click...It's like a dagger in my heart, I'm a jerk. But hey, It's a digital camera, no flash, Little Richard doesn't know that I got one off. So I quickly put the camera down and say "okay...oops sorry!"
I still remember him as it was yesterday, Little Richard leaning on his crutches against his Escalade with hands close to his face in a paparazzi proof defensive pose. I say encouragingly, "you look GREAT Little Richard!" (who am i??)
He responds with the facial equivalent of the four finger wave you mentioned in your post, (probably a little more annoyed) which informs me to (kindly) beat it. Which I do.
I'd send you the picture but I can't find an email address on this page.

I hear him say in his awesome Little Richard voice, "no don't, I don't want people to see me this way."

This was hilarious to read!
He lives in Lynchburg. My Dad lives across the road.
I live in Lynchburg... this is true... actually know exactly which house is his... lives with his sister.
It is very true that Little Richard lives in Lynchburg with his sister. I actually went to school with his nephews and have been in Little Richards house! It's huge and like a maze inside. There are two sections - one in which his sister lives, maybe his nephews still do too, I'm not sure. The other half was Little Richards, but he hadn't moved in yet.
It must have been cool for you to meet him, though you weren't really stalking him.
Celebrities get stalked all the time, and not as innocently as you who were just indulging some righteous awe.
But can you imagine being stalked by Little Richard? That would be really weird. He did follow me down a couple of aisles in Walmart in Tullahoma one time. LOL.
I live in hope of being stalked by somebody famous and beautiful. And female.
But they'd have to reckon with Mrs. Harry ;)
BTW, he whose Dad lives opposite Mr Penniman... if your Dad's name is Bonnie Boyett or Don Walker, fair enough.
It's real easy to find "famous" people in Tennessee, using online public records.
