Our first time to host a sleepover

I said it before but I'll say it again. Memorial Day weekend has been fantastic this year!

Tonight we're hosting out first sleepover ever. Miles and Lola's cousin Josh is in town from another state, and we bargained with the girls that if they got *their room cleaned up, they could invite him to spend the night. Luckily for them, their momma (aka me) really loves them and really despises the mess that they'd made, so they had some help. Okay, a lot of help. Then again, they are 5 and 3! They did chip in! In the end, his mom (aka my sister) said yes and he accepted our invitation.

Josh and Miles

First on the agenda was playing some Wii with a little snack of popcorn! Josh really showed us his skill when he jumped right into Uncle Phil's (aka my husband's) Star Wars Lego game. Later, they played Connect Four, Bingo AND Operation. Now they are watching Wally. Bless Lola's heart, she fell asleep on the couch and missed the later festivities.

Miles is really grown up, too! She is quite the hostess. Right now she is arranging for them to sleep in sleeping bags but on her bed. I just had to run up and help her get her mouthwash open! That child has the best dental hygiene this side of the Mississippi. I think I may have a future dentist on my hands, though she has narrowed her ambitions down to the following possibilities, in all seriousness:

  • Scientist
  • Veterinarian
  • Magician
  • Doctor
  • Artist
  • Trapeze artist
  • Astronaut
Earlier, Josh very sweetly told Phillip that he'd probably stay up until 1 or so, which made Uncle Phillip smile. I know Phil enjoyed showing Josh how to play a particular Wii racing game, too. We only see him once or twice a year, so that's pretty priceless. Josh is polite and agreeable. He calls me Aunt Dusty even though I would respond to just Dusty. He worried that he forgot his toothbrush until I assured him that skipping just one night would be okay considering the circumstances. It is an absolute pleasure to have him over for the night.

I read Vegetarian instead of "Veterinarian." I thought, "how cute.... she wants to make a living by not eating meat."

Sounds like fun. Our 1st one will be next month with two little boys that will be here while their mom has a baby.
